CEHMM - Informational Meeting on Hornshell CCA/As to be held Wed Apr 12th

Informational Meeting on Hornshell CCAAs to be held Wednesday, April 12th, 2017

CEHMM invites you to attend an informational meeting regarding Candidate Conservation Agreements and Candidate Conservation Agreements with Assurances for the Texas hornshell mussel. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 12th at 2:30 at the Bureau of Land Management's Carl sbad field office, located at 620 E. Greene Street.

The Texas hornshell mussel has been proposed for listing under the Endangered Species Act. Candidate Conservation Agreements (CCAs) are voluntary agreements intended to reduce or remove the threats to the species proposed for listing on federal land. On non-federal land, including state trust land, property owners or lessees that participate in Candidate Conservation Agreements with Assurances (CCAAs} receive assurances that if they implement agreed-upon conservation actions, they will be able to continue with their activities and will not be required to implement additional conservation measures beyond those in the CCAA without their consent. More information about these agreements can be found at https://www.fws.gov/endangered/esa-library/pdf/CCAs.pdf.

CEHMM, the State Land Office, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and US Bureau of Land Management will be at the meeting to provide information and answer questions about the Texas hornshell CCA and CCAAs that are being developed. I encourage you to attend to learn more about the agreements, as well as to share your questions, comments and concerns.
