Project Manager

The Center of Excellence (CEHMM) is seeking a full-time Project Manager to direct, coordinate, implement, and execute a Candidate Conservation Program for the Texas Hornshell Mussel and other riparian species. Responsibilities include tracking enrollments; ensuring compliance with program requirements; preparing and organizing work schedules and procedures; record keeping and report writing; maintaining good working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including supervisors, co-workers, private landowners, and industry representatives; and other duties as assigned. A BS degree in Fisheries Biology or other closely related field and minimum five years’ experience in biological field is required. Conservation Field Technician

CENTER OF EXCELLENCE (CEHMM), a non-profit conservation and environmental services organization, is seeking a Conservation Field Technician to assist and support activities associated with research and development projects and/or activities associated with wildlife conservation in the Roosevelt, Curry and Chaves county areas. The position is based out of the Milnesand, NM office. Some of the duties and responsibilities of this position will be construction and repair of habitat improvement structures, land management and invasive species control as necessary, mixing and application of chemicals via hand or equipment, project monitoring, and landowner assistance with wildlife management. These duties require rigorous manual labor and exposure to extreme weather temperatures on a consistent basis. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology or range science is preferred. Knowledge and experience in range conservation is preferred. Salary range $14.00 - $23.00 per hour DOE. Summer Internship

The Center of Excellence (CEHMM), a non-profit science and research organization, is seeking students for a summer internship in the following fields: Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Wildlife Science, Biology, or Range Studies. The candidates should have a GPA of at least 3.0 and continuing enrollment in an undergraduate degree program. Internship will last approximately 12 weeks, throughout the summer months. Internship duties may include but not be limited to biological surveys (e.g., raptor, owl), pitfall trapping of Dunes Sagebrush Lizards, vegetation surveys/monitoring, compliance monitoring of industry projects, and assorted office work.

Interns should expect 8-12 hour days in the field and be comfortable working in extreme temperatures. Interns will be expected to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (provided by CEHMM) and follow company mandated safety requirements. Interns will be stationed at either CEHMM’s Carlsbad, NM office or the Milnesand, NM field office. Salary will be $12-14/hr based on experience.
