Operations Manager

The Center of Excellence (CEHMM) is seeking a full-time Operations Manager. The Operations Manager will collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operation projects and systems. The ideal candidate will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee the daily operations activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization. Some of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Works with the Executive Director to determine the mission, purpose, and priorities of the organization.
  • Implements and communicates the strategic direction of the organization’s operations division.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision.
  • Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
  • Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.
  • Presents periodic performance reports and metrics to the executive director and other leadership.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management.
  • Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided.
  • Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of departmental project managers to ensure program deadlines and priorities are met and are within defined program budgets.
  • Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.  
  • Ensures work environments are adequate and safe. 
  • Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
  • Researches potential sources of, and applies for, grants and public funding.
  • Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community and facilitates strategic relationships and partnerships with key industry players, agencies, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Candidates must be well versed in scheduling and project management in addition to possessing the ability to demonstrate exceptional social and professional skills; be self-motivated and willing to implement your own ideas and creative solutions; and have extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.

Environmental Services Field Technician  - Full Time

Center of Excellence (CEHMM), a non-profit conservation and environmental services organization, is seeking a full time Environmental Services Field Technician to assist and support activities primarily associated with the oil and gas energy sector. The position will be based out of the Carlsbad, NM office. Some of the duties and responsibilities of this position will include conducting onsites and conflict analyses of proposed activities and surveys for threatened or endangered species, along with preparation of NEPA documents and other office work. These duties require rigorous manual labor and exposure to extreme weather temperatures on a consistent basis; candidates should expect to work 8-12 hour days in the field.  A Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology or related field is preferred. Texas Hornshell Field Technician

The Center of Excellence (CEHMM) is seeking a full-time Field Technician to conduct activities associated with the Texas Hornshell Mussel and other riparian species. Duties include conducting surveys for species, river sampling, outreach with landowners and industry, and assisting with mapping and report writing.
